I seem to have solved my problem with being unable to remove the backups, pretty simple too.
To mention I have a Lenovo T410i, R&R v4.5
(I have the swedish version of this program, but I'm trying to explain the correct button names as good as I can.)

First off, make sure when you open the programs simplified user interface, that the backups are set to be saved on C:/ and save settings(this is needed. Change it to your preference after the deletion is done, if you're gonna keep the program at all :D).
When this is all set, back up to main window and enter the "Advanced user interface"(located bottom left).
Now proceed to "Advanced" section in the top menu, then "Delete Back ups". This is why you have to select C:/ in the beginning, otherwise the BackUps wont be displayed here (unless you have them on USB or some other device).
*Check* the backups you want to delete, and delete them.
Simple enough.
The deletion takes time, it has not necessarily crashed on you. Wouldn't surprise me though...

This did work for me, I just deleted all my backups, hopefully they will just stay away too. Restored 150Gb of space, from the full 287Gb HDD.

Hope this helps and that I was clear enough for anyone to understand :)

Happy hunting them files chaps! Good Luck!

I recently restored a ThinkPad X60s to factory settings. While trying to update the Rescue and Recovery - Security Solution from version 3.01 to version 4.3 (so that I can then update the most current version) I get a message from Windows Installer that I should first uninstall the current version before I can install the update.

However, when I try to unistall the current version, I get the following Windows Installer error: “The installed product does not match the installation source(s). Until a matching source is provided or the installed product and source are synchronized, this action cannot be performed. Contact your administrator or product vendor for assistance. If there is a matching installation source, type it below or click browse to locate it”

I tried locating the installation files in the Downloaded Installation folder in the WINDOWS folder but had no luck.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

Thanks,

THANK YOU SO MUCH! For months I have been hovering around 4GB free out of 106GB and could not figure out what was taking up all the space. Only 45GB of my C:\ drive was used from what I could see and this was DRIVING ME CRAZY. I had wasted hours troubleshooting and finally found this blog post today. My computer said there was no such thing as C:/RRBackups so I just went to Add/Remove programs and uninstalled Rescue and Recovery, and instantly regained 42GB of disk space. I never would have used the program anyway because I use Mozy to backup all my important files in the cloud. AGAIN, THANK YOU!

Hello -

I deleted all but my most recent Windows "Restore Point" and got back 80GB.

My total system size dropped from about 120GB to about 41GB.

Naturally, backups will go quicker.

Thanks to this thread I now gained back 80 GB of hard drive space. Cannot believe how stupid this R&R program is (i.e. the developers and whoever put it on the machines)

Wow. This R&R program is really dumb. So I finally found this thread here and I'm deleting the backups at the moment. I just opened the Lenovo R&R advanced window and you can select delete backups from there, but it takes ages to delete them. It took me 20 minutes to delet a 20GB file. Total crap. When these backups are deleted, I'm definitey gonna uninstall this program. They could at least add anstruction or something when they add so "pain in ass" programs in the computer.
