I had a similar experience as many other posters. I tried to delete the backups using RnR, but it would crash every time. The Lenovo folks just told me to uninstall RnR and it would delete the backups. That didn't work. I ignored the situation for awhile and just today got fed up with the 90% filled harddrive on this 6 month old computer. I'm so happy that I found this discussion! I followed the directions on resetting the shadow storage and it worked! The key, if you are using Vista (and probably Windows 7) is to open the command prompt in administrator mode (right click on the link in the Accessories folder to access that mode).

Thanks!!

there is a program called unlocker out there install the program right click on the lenovo ibm backup folder click unlocker then select delete it will slowly but surely delete the folder. It may take a few hrs but it does work. I had to do the same. But after trying to create a back up on an empty drive and the program decided to repartition a full drive instead and destroyed all data on it i will never use the program again it does not work.

My problem was finally solved! I made a call to the IBM/Lenovo help line, spent a bit on the phone with them but problem was solved. They began to walk me through how to adjust my shadow storage then they gave up but they at least gave me a starting point I then found the method on:
http://commandwindows.com/vista-tips.htm

I opened a command line as administrator and typed in:

vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: /Maxsize=900MB

and voila 125GB of hard drive that was lost was restored.
NOTE: this will remove your last restore point so make sure you account for this before you begin. You may want to do back up discs or at least back up your system once you are done. I entered 900MB but you may want more or less.

Hi,
I have read the comments but not able to find the solution to my problem. I have Lenovo T61 with Vista Business version. My hard disk is 86 GB but its showing that only 26 GB is free where as I have install only Microsoft office.

I checked the backup from rescue and restore . Its say you don't have any back. When cehck the space its show only 28GB used as with all the hidden fles on C drive then where is my 32 GB. Can anybody help me to get my hard disk space back

Thanks in adavance
